#MadeinGermany at Fine Food Australia
When people think of ‘Made in Germany’ it’s usually Mercedes, Porsche, Siemens, innovation and engineering leaders that come to mind.
Think again. Some of their very best products are actually to eat or drink!
Deliciously new German food and drink products – ready to enter the Australian market – were recently highlighted at Australia’s largest food trade fair, Fine Food Australia, under the #MadeinGermany banner … and we were there LIVE! What a great platform it was to connect with hospitality professionals from across Australia (and Asia) and showcase the best of Germany.
It’s not all Pork Knuckle (Schweinshaxen) and Bier!
Look past the German eating/drinking stereotypes, and you will find some really fantastic food products and beverages from companies that are leaders in their product segments in Germany. Think marzipan, organic juices & smoothies, dumplings, coffee … and yes, beer.
The “Team Germany” section of the expo included a great cross-section of new and well-known names, and we were very proud to be part of “Team Rabenhorst”, together with their International Sales Director, Peter Weishaupt. What an incredible 4 days we experienced together, bringing Rabenhorst and Rotbäckchen juices & smoothies to the visitors from the Australian food & hospitality industry and many friends from Asia too.
Here is a small ‘taste’ of a few of our favourite German products showcased:
- Niederegger : No one does marzipan like Niederegger does. They have it all covered, from traditional chocolate-coated marzipan to a huge range of delicious new contemporary flavours.
- Bürgis : scrumptious German dumplings (Knödel) that really taste homemade. Make mine their Semmelknödel, served with mushroom sauce!
- Leikeim / Altenburger : Great to see our friends from these boutique breweries again, and of course enjoy a tasty brew or two, including specialties such as Steinbier (stone beer).
- Zott: what child (of any age) doesn’t love Zott custards, milk products and their classic soft chocolate sponge/cream bar, Monte?
Danke schön – see you in 2019!
Organised by the Leipziger Messe and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture, it was an exceptionally ‘well-oiled ship’ that they ran at Fine Food Australia. It was a real privilege to be a part of the German contingency of 10 companies. Many thanks must go to the tireless work and fantastic support of Gesine Weickert from Leipziger Messe, Brita Doebert from the German Federal Ministry of Food & Agriculture and Olivier Koelsch from the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE). We hope to see you all again and be a part of Fine Food Australia 2019 in Sydney!
